Conditional Formatting to highlight overlapping dates on Vacation roster

    Hello All,
I have been using this site for quite a while and have gotten great information, using search options. This time however I cannot find what I need.
I would like to have any overlapping dates highlighted, for the 18employees. If possible in different colours, for the sample sheet attached.

For example, the following have overlapping dates and if I can have them in different colours great, if that's too much no problem.
    H3/I3 & H7/I7
    E13/F13, L3/L3 & /O10

Thanks for the help in advance!

the Conditional Formatting formulas applied to the ranges as indicated will give the same colour you specify. if you want different colours for each row (employee) then you can modify and enter each of the conditional formatting 90 times (5 pairs of columns and 18 rows) and make as pretty as you like.

Thank you Jan, this will work, easier to view and check than before. 90 times you said, haha good joke, I'm not that pretty anyway.
Great stuff in Excel Forum as usual.......Thanks again

Re: Conditional Formatting to highlight overlapping dates on Vacation roster

yea.. the 90 times is because of the 18 rows and 5 column-ranges ... 18x5=90.

i structured the formulas in a way that makes easier to see the variations so it is possible, but time consuming.

to make the change for each row, just change the number (3) in the top line of the code before the <>0, and at the start of every line of code before the <= and >=... so for each row, change the number 3, into 4, or 5, or 6 etc, for each row.

everything after the <= and >= is exactly the same for each range, and should NOT be changed.

    i hope that makes sense.
