    Sum the quantities of items in a given period

    Hello, folks. I have a problem you might be able to help me with. I have a sheet with multiple sales order lines. I have three columns:

    Column A: Item number
    Column B: Month (1, 2, ... 11, 12)
    Column C: Quantity

    There can be several lines for each item number in the same month, so I want an extra column, D, where, if there are duplicate item numbers in column A, the quantities are summed IF they are also in the same month, and if not, leave a 0. From there I know how to make a fifth column where I can retrieve the summed quantities, or the original quantities if there is a 0.

    I have tried messing around with some IF, IFS, SUM and SUMIFS formulas, but I can't seem to make it work. How do I do this?

    There are instructions at the top of the page explaining how to attach your sample workbook.

    A good sample workbook has just 10-20 rows of representative data that has been desensitised. It also has expected results mocked up, relevant cells highlighted and a few explanatory notes.
