Using MIN function on differing/varying rows.

    Hello,

Can't seem to figure this one out even though its probably very simple.

Basically SYSTEM NUMBER (A) contains the PART NUMBERS (B) I want to find the MIN figure of the STOCK (C) for each part contained in the system number. (the outcome to work out if enough parts are available to build a SYSTEM.)

There are not a set number of PARTS in a system, some only have 1, some have 7 or 8.

The worksheet is quite large, this is just a small example. Without going down each SYSTEM line and performing a =MIN and the range of part numbers. is the a formula where excel can perform the =MIN function but when there is a SYSTEM NUMBER Change, so it counts the correct amount of part numbers for that one system?

    Thank you in advance

    Matt

Edit : added with expected outcome in =MIN column.

Re: Using MIN function on differing/varying rows.

    Hi,

Sorry for the late response. Please find another attachment to show the result manually.

all parts must be available to produce 1 (one) system. Where the value is 0 (Zero) a system cannot be produced so this returns a 0 (Zero) MIN value.

Others use the MIN value to see how many systems can be produced.

The only issue i'm having is that the systems contain varying amounts of parts.

So just need to know if there is a way of making the MIN function calculate up to a system number change or blank line or any other really.

    Any help appreciated.

    Thank you

    Matt

Re: Using MIN function on differing/varying rows.

Can I confirm that you are using Excel 2019 and not MS365?

    Try this copied down:

    =IF(OR(A2=A1,A2=""),"",MINIFS($C$2:$C$17,$A$2:$A$17,A2))

    Try this formula in D2:

    =IF(COUNTIFS(A$2:A2,A2)=1,MINIFS(C:C,A:A,A2),"")

    then copy down as required.

    Hope this helps.

    Pete

Your forum profile says Excel 2019 - it needs updating with the information you have given.
