Learn Chess with Excel: how to detect checkmate?

I have already fulfilled my purpose of designing a course to Learn Chess with Excel, both in Spanish and English languages.

♟️ The most difficult thing has been to introduce the basic rules of the game in Excel formulas, no VBA macros!
♟️ What I have not achieved, nor was it my main objective, has been the detection of checkmate, with VBA macros!

Can you help me test it and give me suggestions to improve it?

    Welcome to the forum.

If this is a non-macro workbook, then why have you attached an .xlsm file?

It is a macro workbook (.xlsm) but the basic rules of the chess game are in Excel formulas!

OK - when you provide a non-macro version of the file, I'll have a look.

Re: Learn Chess with Excel: how to detect checkmate?

I just provided a non-macro version of the file in the first post.

The rules of the movements of the chess pieces are in the sheet 'Rules'.

For example, in the 'Chessboard' sheet there is the position of the pieces at the moment when the white queen checks the black king, which is detected by a macro: TestEnJaque, which is only in the file with macros.

To detect if it is not only check but also checkmate, another macro will be needed that I do not plan to develop at the moment, since it goes beyond the objective that I was pursuing with my template. That's the idea I wanted to convey initially...

AliGW, if you want to detect checkmate, I can explain step by step how I detect check with the macro that manages the 'Rules' sheet.

My main purpose is not to detect checkmate but to detect bugs in the template with macros, and for that it is necessary that many try it and notify me of the bugs they find.

    Regards,
    Pedro Wave
