Formula to find a resource rate and multiple by days working in month and sum total mth

    good afternoon,

I am looking for a formula that can take the Resource Name in in column C and find the day rate on the Reference worksheet.
Then multiple the date day by the number of days working in the month (cols E:O)
Then add that all together in a monthly total in row 19.

    Thank you
    Sample.xlsx

Hi. Before we get going on this one...

Is your forum profile showing the Excel PRODUCT that you need this request to work with?

The best solutions often rely on knowing WHICH Office PRODUCT (Excel, NOT Windows) that you have. Please check that your forum profile is up-to-date. If you aren't sure, in Excel go to File/Account and report what it says below the MS logo at the top of that page. If your version is for Mac, please also state this.

The three most recent Excel PRODUCTS are Excel 2019, Excel 2021 and MS365 - if you are using MS365, please give this name along with the Version number in your profile (e.g. MS365 (PC) Version 2211). The version number is in the About Excel section further down the Account page.

    Cheers,

    Glenn.

A few expected results would help... especially to help understanding what is meant to happen to all the stray "big numbers" at the foot of the Table.

    =SUM(MMULT(--($C$5:$C$18=TRANSPOSE(References!$C$2:$C$11)),(References!$D$2:$D$11))*F5:F18)

    copied across.

Sorry about that. I hadn't updated it from years ago, now only on 2016 for work. Still a little behind the latest at work.
    Thank you

    Or try

    =SUMPRODUCT(SUMIF(References!$C$2:$C$11,$C$5:$C$18,References!$D$2:$D$11),F5:F18)

Thumbs up Re: Formula to find a resource rate and multiple by days working in month and sum total mt

Thank you very much for your replies. I really appreciate your help on this. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, it was the weekend and back at work today.

The mmult didn't work for me, and I can't seem to work out why, as it works well in your sample you added thank you Glenn

But the sumproduct is working perfectly. Thank you for your help.

FWIW, I forgot to say that if you are using a non-current Excel version (as you are) the MMULT needs to be array entered, with CTRL-SHIFT-ENTER in the first cell, before any dragging.

On that basis - do go with Phuocam's. It's easier to manage.
