I am trying to make a schedule template that can be updated from year to year. The first sheet has monthly assignments. The second sheet has weekly assignments. Based on a persons assignment for the month determines when they have a shift during the week. So far I have most of it worked out pretty well.
The issue: several times throughout the year people will be on an elective assignment. When this happens the elective in the yearly calendar will get changed to "E -" with the specific elective listed after the -. Right now I am using an =IF function with an =OR function embeded that looks for the persons assignment in the list at the top of sheet two. If the assignment is not listed it leaves it blank. What I want the formula to do is to recognize "E -" and consider the IF function as true and pull in the persons name. I hope this is making sense.
Specific example: Sheet 1 (blank year) cell C30 has "E - cardio". What I want is in sheet 2 (clinic schedule) cell G 33 I want the formula that is there to recognize "E -" and load the name (3E) into the cell.
I tried to figure out how to use wild cards within formulas but it is beyond my skills/understandings. Can you offer some advice?
