In the attached example I need to sum Column A where the value XX-AA-23-21316 is any part of column B.
I therefore need to nest a formula within the SUMIF to look for a string within each cell, rather than whole cell value. That bit is foxing me.

=SUMIF(B2:B5,"*"&D7&"*",A2:A5)
