    vLookup Variable

I'm building a spreadsheet to categorize entries. I use a list of known entries and vlookup to pull the category for each item. It works well if the search key is exact. But is there a way to have it search based on a variable or changing key?

I'm including a sample sheet that shows the basic concept looking for variations of entries.

    Thank you in advance!

    Best regards
    - Maurice

    Re: vLookup Variable

I was wrong. It worked for the table I attached but when I made changes it stopped working. The only changes I made were expanding the "Types" columns to allow more entries and changing the column that it looks up the results.

    Re: vLookup Variable

ATTN : The last one cannot be distinguished because the TEXT strings are connected together, EXCEL will treat it as a complete one, unless you separate it for processing
