IF/Index Match function (to return value basis combination)

Hello Everyone,

I am a tab bit confused on writing if function or Index/Match for this one.

I am trying to return a grade system basis the value in Column "C" i:e "Unique" "Duplicate". I have attached a sample sheet and also mentioned why column "D" returns the value it does.

Request

On the sample sheet I have conditions on column "C" that returns "Unique" "Duplicate" basis Report number in Column "A". The next column has a grade. What I am looking for is Final Grade column "D" to return basis "B&C".

For example in the attached sheet row 2/3 have same report number but two different grades, cell B3 has D which is the worse grade so cell D2 and D3 should return value = D


Any help on this is much appreciated.

Assuming there are two grades only, try in D2 and drag down:
