    Using dates

    Hi there,

what I at first thought would be quite simple has stumped me. I am looking to find the time spent on a project over the last three years. I have a long list of projects and their start and end date. I need to find the amount of days that these were worked on in the last 3 years.

    Name Start Date End Date
    1 12/03/2014 15/05/2026
    2 19/04/2021 05/05/2022
    3 01/04/2019 05/09/2021

Some of the projects have worked across the whole period, some worked across a proportion and I need to know the number of days within the last 3 years that they have been active. They are inputted in date format currently.

    Please can you help!

    Thank you,
    Eve

Power Query is a free AddIn for Excel 2010 and 2013, and is built-in functionality from Excel 2016 onwards (where it is referred to as "Get & Transform Data").

It is a powerful yet simple way of getting, changing and using data from a broad variety of sources, creating steps which may be easily repeated and refreshed. I strongly recommend learning how to use Power Query - it's among the most powerful functionalities of Excel.

    Re: Using dates

Sorry, by last three years I mean three years from today. So how many days has it been active between 18/05/2020 - 18/05/2023.
