    Is it possible to make the reference element of an offset formula dynamic

    Hi all

    im trying to use a sum(offset(match combination

    i have Jan - dec data and i want to be able to choose my starting month and ending month of the sum

    so for example Feb - april or Jan to jan

    I have successfully managed sum from Jan to any other month but the issue i have is Jan is the reference of the offset and i cant make it point to a dynamic cell

    example the k$13 reference i cant make dynamic like i have with the width reference (there is a drop down to choose the month number)

    =SUM(OFFSET(K$13,0,0,1,MATCH('MAN ACCOUNTS'!$Z$2,'Calculation tab'!K1:V1,0)))

    im probably not explaining this well but im gonna try

    Welcome to the forum.

    There are instructions at the top of the page explaining how to attach your sample workbook (yellow banner: HOW TO ATTACH YOUR SAMPLE WORKBOOK). Screenshots are of little practical use as we cannot manipulate them.

    A good sample workbook has just 10-20 rows of representative data that has been desensitised. It also has expected results mocked up, worked examples where required, relevant cells highlighted and a few explanatory notes.

    Welcome to this forum.

    Please attach an sample sheet where we can implement the formula. See yellow banner at the top of this page.
    I guess it will not be an OFSSET-function

    One way:

    =SUM(FILTER(G7:R7,(G4:R4>=V4)*(G4:R4<=W4)))

    Re: Is it possible to make the reference element of an offset formula dynamic

    If there's any possibility that the start box might be empty, use this:

    =SUM(FILTER(G7:R7,(G4:R4>=IF(V4="",1,V4))*(G4:R4<=W4)))
