need help developing formula to track weiight loss goals

hi all, im hoping someone can help me with a formula im working on for my spread sheet. long story short im trying to get healthy for the first time in my life, im almost a month into a complete lifestyle change and its going okay so far. ive created a small weight loss journal in excel to help keep me motivated. Ive been advised that a healthy amount of weight you can theoretically lose is 1% of your total body weight (assuming a strict diet and exercise routine).started off well with both, but the last two weeks ive been slacking on the exercise part.

Anyways my spreadsheet shows me what i am losing vs what i theoretically should have lost if i stuck to the diet, figured it would help keep me motivated. going well so far but i thought it would be useful to add a new formula to help give me an added kick in the pants to get off my bum and exercise. i want to figure out how many weeks behind or ahead of schedule i am. the "schedule" is how much i should be losing judging from my starting weight (112.7kg) assuming i lose 1% each week.

Currently im slightly ahead of schedule (about one week) however im attributing that to a short burst of rapid weight loss at the beginning, apparently thats normal when you begin losing weight and then it slows down (which it did). Anyways even though im ahead of schedule i have noticed now that i was missing my weight loss goals, so i have a feeling ill drop behind the "schedule" pretty soon.

Im not quite sure where to start, i know it would involve doing something to the difference between the scheduled weight and the actual weight, but not sure what exactly.

Can anyone help with this? sheet attached

Are you still using Excel 2010?

Please add 5-10 rows of expected outcomes (manually calculated) to your workbook.

Sorry - I don't understand the requirement. Explain the formulae you have added - what's the logic?

I want some expected results here:

Re: need help developing formula to track weiight loss goals

Sorry, i may not have explained it well.

So in the sheet ive got my actual weight in column B. This is me weighing myself every thursday morning. Then ive got the Scheduled weight in column F. This is how much i should theoretically weigh now, assuming i lose 1% of my body weight every week (i know its not likely to consistently lose that every week but i figured that would be a good benchmark to track my progress by).

What im trying to work out is a formula to help me determine how many weeks ahead or behind schedule my actual weight is. currently i can determine this by looking at the current date and i can see that my actual weight is 108.5, the scehduled weight is 109.35, meaning had i lost exactly 1% of my body weight each week i would now weigh 109.35. Since next weeks scheduled weight is 108.25, so i can manually see i am just under a week ahead of schedule in my weight loss plan. While manually looking i can roughly figure it out, i would like a formula to help keep track as i go

Try the below in cell G3 and drag down:

    =IFERROR((D3-E3)/E3+G2,"")

It shows that today you are 0.832311802 weeks ahead

Re: need help developing formula to track weiight loss goals

    =IFERROR((act loss - goal loss)/goal loss+last weeks result,"")

(act loss - goal loss) = loss over and above target loss
(act loss - goal loss)/goal loss = weeks ahead for that row so: weight loss over and above goal weight loss / goal weight loss
+last weeks result = adds on the previous weeks loss/ gain so as to build a running total

All wrapped in an IFERROR so if the result is an error then the result will be blank

Good luck with your weight loss journey
