    Accumulative Addition Formula

    Hello,

Im currently working with large sets of data (Example attached) where I need to run an accumulated sum by day. I have dine this by doing a sum (fixing the first cell then dragging down then manually changing the starting point as the date changes. Is there a way of simplifying this?

    All help would be appreciated.

    Kind regards,

    Re: Accumulative Addition Formula

    Thats amazing, thank you.

Would it be able to put a % in column E to show what % of column B contributes to each day? (example 00:08:00 = 0.12% for the day)

    Re: Accumulative Addition Formula

If you are only interested in the cumulative sum for each day, then presumably you would like to see this only once. The following formula would show the total against the first occurrence of each date:

    =IF(COUNTIF(A$2:A2,A2)=1,SUMIF(A:A,A2,B:B),"")

Put it in C2 and copy down by double-clicking the fill handle (the small black square in the bottom right corner of the cursor). If you want to see the total only against the final entry for each date, then you could use this variation in C2 and copy down:

    =IF(COUNTIF(A$2:A2,A2)=COUNTIF(A:A,A2),SUMIF(A:A,A2,B:B),"")

    Hope this helps.

    Pete

Hi omlette_boy I don't understand your true demand for patterns. Can column E provide the desired result ?

    Administrative Note:

Before we go any further with this ...

Is your forum profile showing the Excel PRODUCT that you need this to work for?

Members will tailor the solutions they offer to the Office PRODUCT (Excel, NOT Windows) that you have. Please check that your forum profile is up-to-date in this respect. If you aren't sure, in Excel go to File | Account and report what it says below the MS logo at the top of that page. If your product is for Mac, please also state this.

The three most recent Excel products are Excel 2019, Excel 2021 and MS365 - if you are using MS365, please give this name along with the version number in your profile (e.g. MS365 Version 2306). This is in the About Excel section further down the Account page.

    Thanks.

    Re: Accumulative Addition Formula

    Hi,

    Apologies, column E is a cumulative % total E17= 100 %

    I require each line to be the proportion of the total that day E.G E2 = 0.12% E3 = 0.00% E4 = 13.85%

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you for helping.

    Kind regards,

    OM
