What's the calculation? How do you calculate the saving?

    Is this what you need?

    =IF(B8>8%,(B7/B8)*8%,B7)

Re: Formula to show saving up to a cut off point

Hi Ali, the saving is calculated as a difference between the budget prod and the achieved prod. (prod means rate). CTE is the hourly pay rate. The total saving is the actual correct amount but I need the result to show up to and including 8%. The result should be static for anything over 8%. I have included the formulas for calculation in the cells.

Hi, I have found the answer.

    = MIN(B7, 0.08 * B4)

I'm pretty sure the formula I suggested does what you stated in post #4 - did you try it?

Re: Formula to show saving up to a cut off point

    Hi,
Yes I tried it, when I put the base as 100 and the new rate as 108, to indicate an 8% increase, I expected the result to be the highest I will see. If I increase to 108.1 or above the result changes and continues to change as I increase the new rate. Im looking at what it considers to be 8%, whether its an increase of 8% of the original number or a reflection of the new.

Provide a workbook with a few WORKED EXAMPLES set up manually to illustrate what you want. I am not clear from your description about the calculation required (in fact, I am not sure that you are, either).

Re: Formula to show saving up to a cut off point

I figured it out. Two separate formulas, one with the max 8% and a MIN comparison to chose the lowest.

Re: Formula to show saving up to a cut off point

OK - thanks for letting us know, but that is what my formula does, effectively. I am no closer to understanding why you rejected it, and with no samples as requested, I have no way of troubleshooting it.

Re: Formula to show saving up to a cut off point

The formula you offered does not satisfy the requirement. I need it to show up to 8% then stop. Your solution continues to change when the % increases. I have attached sample2 with the detail
