Using multiple workbooks

I am familiar with using an auto open macro to set up a workbook. In particular I often want to specify the precise cell that will be selected on open. However when using multiple workbooks I only have this control on the master worksheet. Linked workbooks will open up at the point they were last saved. I have got round this in VBA by using a save and exit sub that will first navigate to the correct point before saving and closing. This works fine in this situation where I have hidden all other menus and toolbars, but surely there is another way?
