I have a large Excel worksheet with numerous hidden rows. When I try to
change the height of all rows in the spreadsheet the hidden ones reappear.
Can this be avoided? Is there a way to delete these rows without having to
highlight each one?

LL,
Select all your rows, use Edit | Go To Special Visible Cells only, then
change the height of your rows.
