locking a field

    locking a field

    could you help. sometimes i accidentally highlight a field and lose the formula. is there any way of locking the field with the formula?

    There sure is.

    You will want to look for the toll on the toolbar that looks like a padlock, called lock cell. All cells are set to locked by default, (the padlock will look as if it is pushed in), so you will need to unlock the cells that you do want to change. Once you do this and insure that the cells you want protected are locked simply go to tools/protection/protect sheet. You will be prompted to set a password to unprotect. I would reccommend against this since it is easy to forget your password. This should work for your needs.
