percentiles?-How does excel calculates the percentiles worksheet function?

How does excel calculates the percentiles worksheet function? The results
returned from excel differ from the results obtained with the generally used
formula -> R = k*(n+1) with linear interpolation between the values located
between the two nearest integer R values.

AFAICT it's the same function as for quartiles - see

Instead of the

quart/4

substitute

percentile/100
