How do you total times on a timesheet

I have been trying to add total hours on a time sheet. It seems to add a couple of lines accurately but then if it exceeds a certain number (of which I am not sure) it quits adding. Do I need to convert it some how so that it is back in a numeric format instead of time? If so how do I do that?

Multiply your result sum with 24, and format the result as general.
