I want to count cells based on the color that they have been formatted.
e.g. Count the number of yellow cells, count the number of green cells.
Is this even possible?
Thanks.

You need to use a VBA function. See
www.cpearson.com/excel/colors.htm for details and example code.

You can do that with excel 2007, before that you would need code
http://www.cpearson.com/excel/colors.htm
on how to install
http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/install.htm
otherwise the only way would be to count using some sort of criteria that
you use when you color the cells if such a thing exist
