Check to see if you have your formula view on: Click Tools>Options, select
the View tab and uncheck the "Formulas" check box if it's checked.

You were exactly correct. Formulas was checked under Tools>Options. When I
unchecked it, things seem to work as I had intended. Thank you ever-so-much.
