    fuel log calculating...need help

what i am trying to do is find a formula that will put the running total back to "2200" when we fill the truck up again. it's sort of hard to explain.

the problem is i can't use numbers as the "daily fuel totals" will go up to show that we "pumped" over 2200 gallons that day.

we have a paper log book, but i am trying to clean it up...i've attached a file (scanned for viruses) from our office computer..everything is explained in there....if you could help us out a bit, i would be greatly appreciate it

    thanks,

    Hi Wes,

I have a couple of questions regarding your spreadsheet ...

    1. Can "topped" appear more than once in the seven day period ?
    2. Can "topped" appear outside of the seven day period ?
    3. How do you ensure your tracking continuity if there is only a seven day period ...?
    4. How many airplanes do you need to track simultaneously ?

WES: this problem is for only one day. each day we track the level on the truck (for FAA records). i'm not sure what you mean by a 7 day period, but "topped" can appear more than once per day, although we usually top the truck off once per day.

i think the numbers on the side of the log are 1-7, but this is an entry number...not a day. sorry for not clarifying.

we have anywhere from 5 to 20 entries per day depending on the day and activity.

so it should look like this :
    2200 (full) | Running total
    1.) -200 <--[2000]
    2.) -1000 <--[1000]
3.) topped <--[since it's at 1000, we need to "top the truck off"
    to make it =2000]
    4.) -200 <--[1000]

    thanks for the help!
