Cell References sometimes don't update!

I have a big excel file with about 90 sheets in it. I use it to print invoices for customers. It sometimes happens that a cell reference doesn't work/update. This cell reference is pointing to the central invoice number. When this happens I try 'F9', but that won't work. I can only solve this problem by clicking in the cell with the reference, type over the same reference and give an enter, then the invoice number is updated again.
