    Tricky Formula

I need to get a value for two sets of criteria. So basically i need a type of countif formula that adheres to two sets of criteria. The formula needs to look at two columns of data - and if the criteria in both is met must be counted.

has anybody got an idea that I could use here?

For multiple criteria counting use SUMPRODUCT, e.g.

    =SUMPRODUCT(--(A1:A100="x"),--(B1:B100="y"))
