Pivot table drop down list with data no longer valid?

Is there a way to refresh the data in a drop down list of a pivot table so it only shows current values of the columns it references?

As example I have a pivot table that uses a Month column that has info like July 2007, August 2007, etc.

On a yearly basis I will delete the existing data (is: all 2007 months will be gone) and update the column referenced to only use July 2008, August 2008, etc.

However from tests I have done, when I go to the drop down list of the pivot table for Month it will still show the 2007 months as well as the new 2008 months (the only ones I want to see in the list).

At the very least the Manually clear suggestions does not work.

Someone I know will look at the programming option as I am unaware of what to do with that...
