Selecting Cells by the format type

I have always assumed this to be impossible but I want to select cells based on the cell colour.

I have a spread sheet that shows all orders.

As they order change status I change the cell colour.

Overdue = Orange
Despatched = Yellow
Invoiced - Green

To get round the problem I have added a Status column and the a conditional format to change the colour of the cells. this is hard to explain to other that us the spread sheet and I would prefer if I could just select and colour the cells manually.


However doing it this way I cannot find away of using filter to select on the cells that are yellow for instance.


Is it possible?

Am I missing something but why can't you just use auto filter on the status column? Status column will be filled with the colours depending on the status so filtering on status will be the same as filtering on the colurs effectively.

Or am I missing something?
