    Filling a table

    Hi

I have a column of values, ranging from 0-100 in steps of 1.

For each of these values, I require another value to be calculated. The equation to get the new values is:

    [ VALUE_IN_COLUMN x(8/3875) ]^-1 - 1

How do I do this in excel?

    Thanks

    Hi

    I worked it out as 3875/(8*A1) - 1

This gives the correct value when I do it in a calculator, but in excel it's giving the wrong results.

    Any ideas?
    thanks

Oops; I missed that the 'value in column' is inside the brackets.

I won't work for A1=0, but for all other values, your equations is correct.

    For A1=4, B1 should be 96.875.

Excel is returning something around 120. Also incorrect for other values. What is missing?

    For A1 = 4, 3875 / (8 * 4) = 3875 / 32, which at a glance is a hundred and something, not 96.xx
