Strip data from a cell

Hi guys.

I have exported a load of xml data to Excel and I am getting this:

<number>1.9</number>
<number>2.4</number>
<number>5.8</number>
<number>-3.6</number>

What I want to be able to do is get rid of the opening and closing number tag so I get this:

1.9
2.4
5.8
-3.6

Replace <number> with nothing
Replace </number> with nothing

We all have the occasional blind spot ...
