    possibly a lookup function question, not sure

    I have a spreadsheet where I want to assign a value based on the sum of a bunch of numbers. For instance, I have to insert a bunch of numbers and add them all up. The sum of these numbers will determine what the value is in another field of the worksheet. If the sum is between 0 and 100 then the value assigned is 1....if it is between 100 and 200 then the value assigned is 2 and so on.

    Currently I look at the sum, determine the value, and then type it in. Is there a way that I can put in the range and the value that goes with that range and excel insert this value automatically?

    Hi,

    You should specify in columns and rows instead of a bunch of numbers.

    The amount of variables would help determine the type of solution.

    If up to 7 so ons, an if statement would be enough, if more, a validation list.
