    Question Sumif?

    Hi,

I need a formula to provide totals at the bottom of my spreadsheet of each currency.

(this is only an example, too many to do this manually)

    any ideas?

    Thanks

I would suggest you introduce a column where you manually enter the currency symbol . Then you can use this column and use a simple SUMIF() formula to sum the totals like: =SUMIF($D$5:$D$9,$C11,E$5:E$9)

    see attached

Where there is a will there are many ways.

Thanks NBVC, any chance I could somehow use the CELL function combined with a SUMIF function instead of adding columns?
I cant get it to work but know yuo mentioned CELL function to me before?

    thanks

I tried that at first, but I don't think the Cell() function differentiates between the Pound and the Euro symbols....they both give a ,2 as a result.... even your $ symbol gave that result in your workbook...but I got a C when I tried it on my sheet....

Not sure how else to distinguish the currency... (perhaps you will need some VBA intervention to do it...but I am not the one to figure that one out just yet )
