    Countif Problem

    Hi

I am trying to adapt the COUNTIF FUNCTION to assign ranks without skipping a rank number e.g. if I have 6 people with 4 unique scores and 2 tied scores scores I want the ties to be given the same rank and the rank to be from 1-4 rather than 1-6as below:

    Eg
    score rank
    Mr A 6 4
    Mr B 10 1
    Mr C 8 2
    Mr D 7 3
    Mr E 10 1
    Mr F 7 3

    Is this possible?

    Thanks for your help.

If your scores are in B2:B7 then try this formula in C2 copied down

    =SUMPRODUCT((B$2:B$7>B2)/COUNTIF(B$2:B$7,B$2:B$7&""))+1
