    Custom Cell formating

I am trying to format cells using custom format but having a little trouble coming up with correct formula. For example, user enters $300,567.23 into cell A1. The number I want to display in cell A1 is $301 as every cell within the spreadsheet is assumed to be in $1000s.

Is there a way to do this using the form cells option under the custom category?

Use "#,##0," (without the quotes) as the custom format.

    Didn't work.

I tryed by entering $545,123 into cell A1 and used format $#,##0 but am still getting $545,123. The result I want is $545 (I need to drop "123"). Is there a way to mulitiply the number entered by user times 0.001?

    Thanks

You forgot the comma at the end of the formatting.
