    CountIf - Trading Tracking Chart...

    Hi there.

    Have made a much ‘easier to forumlate’ chart for you folks out there who, for some unknown reason, like helping a dolt like me.

    In the attached, you can see that I am wanting a formula to show accumulating profits for a certain month AND for a certain ‘type’ of trade. DT would be a ‘day-trade’, for example. This being the case…

    I need a formula for N4 that shows the total profits (referencing column H) for the month of June (referencing column I) but ONLY for trades labeled ‘DT’ (as per B column). I know it’s a kind of ‘COUNTIF’ formula that I’ve used before, but I can’t get the syntax. Once one of you provides it, I realize it’s a matter of copying the syntax for all other trade types and as relates to what month they’re occurring in, et al.

    Thanks very much and look forward to your solution;

    Somebodyhadto.

    you could try something like this
    you could put formulas on another sheet and just reference the results to tidy it up

    Almost, but not quite.....

    Hi Mr. Wilson:

    Your formula would work great if it were ONLY June's results to be concerned with, but there will be 12 months (and yes, I'll chart them on a 2nd worksheet) and up to 2000 rows that will be receiving tracking data (over the year 2008) so that would make 36 columns of formulas 2000 rows deep - gotta be a better way using SUMPRODUCT or SUMIF or COUNTIF.....

    Anyone? (Thanks Mr. Wilson, regardless....it DOES work - that's for sure! )

    Martin

    i dont see that as a problem with a bit of absolute cell referencing /click drag and find replace it doesnt take long
    did a years worth allowing for 4000 per month
    took about 15 mins to do
