Count the number of occurances of a value in a range.

Hi,

I have a range of CELL's, Q2:Q14,000. Each cell contains a number string in excess of 600 characters. I'd like to
a) discover how many of these values match another value in the range
OR
b) count the number of times each value occurs in the range.

I'd appreciate any ideas on how to get this.
