Say I have a List of people down column A and Required Classes across Row 1. To show that they have completed the course i put an X in the corresponding cell. Is there a way to get a percentage of cells containing an X in the column? Please Help!

Try:
=COUNTIF(J1:J9,"X")/ROWS(J1:J9)
where J1:J9 is the vertical range of cells that potentially have an X... adjust as necessary
format the result cell as Percentage.
Where there is a will there are many ways.
