    Calculating the number of days between dates

    Please helP!!! I need a formula that will allow me to put a date in cell a2, and in cell a3 put the the number of days between 2 dates. Example.. For example (A2) shows 08/06/08, a3 to show the number of days from 08/06/08 to 08/14/2008--(a3 )14 and (a4) to shows the number of days from 08/06/08-10/05/2008 ---(a4) 60 days.

    If you can advise or refer me to a site, i will greatly appreciate it.
    Thanks
    Ann

    The answer is in the help files

    Hi,
    dates are stored as numbers which are counted from the first day of 1900
    so as long as you format the cells as dates you can simply subtract one from the other. Don't forget to format your answer as a number otherwise it will give you a date in the 1900's.

    ie a1 = 13-mar-2008
    b1 = 21-mar-2008
    c1 = b1-a1 (c1 will become 8)

    have fun

    But I don't want 2 dates on the spreadsheet. I only want the starting date and the result in the cell, i want to be the number of days between the 2 dates.
    i.e.
    a2 08/06/08
    a3 14 (days)
    a4 60 (days)

    Hi,

    With your date in A2, then this in A3

    =DATE(2008,8,14)-A2

    and this in A4

    =DATE(2008,10,5)-A2

    Format both these cells to GENERAL, result is 8 and 60
