I want to take the values from one column and sum it with the values of another and input into a new column.
For example I want to sum cell a1 with b1 and output in c1
and continue summing a2 with b2 and ouput in c2.........a3 with b3 and output in c3. This may be a very easy task but I've been searching for hours on tutorials...Maybe i don't know the proper terminology to find this function?
Would appreciate any help...

Hi Leigh, and welcome to the forum.
In cell C1, put the formula
=A1+B1
Then, hover your mouse over the lower right corner of cell C1 and the icon will turn to a cross. You can double-click at that point and the formula will fill down as many rows as you have data in column B. (Otherwise, you can click on that corner, and while holding down the mouse button drag the mouse downward until you reach the end of your data.)
Hopefully that makes sense.
