    Conditional Formating with Text

    Hi,

    I have a cell whith a green background colour to highlight to colleagues that they need to enter the name of a project.

    What I want to happen is for the bg colour to change to white once they've entered the project text/details.

    How can you do this in conditional formating ?

    Thanks.

    Choose Formula Is and use a formula like this:

    =$X$2<>""

    click Format and choose White from the Pattern tab.

    where X2 is a cell that will be filled in by the user and once he/she fills it in the background would change.
    Where there is a will there are many ways.

    Thanks - it worked,

    How about if I needed to do the same but where a time is entered.

    i,e cell is green to indicate a time needs to be entered. A colleague then enters a time i.,e 11:00pm and the green bg disappears to white/no colour?

    Thanks.

    If it's not a specific time (i.e. as long as the cell is filled in) then use the same formula..

    If, specifically, you want 11:00 PM to be filled in before the cell changes colour, then use formula:

    $X$2=TIME(23,0,0)

    or if you meant, that only if a time value of any time is entered.. then perhaps

    =AND($X$2<>"",$X$2>=TIME(0,0,0),$X$2<=TIME(23,59,59))
