Excel function problem at work
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am 100% this is an incredibly easy problem, however I have posted on here before and had excellent help.
The problem is:
I have an excel spreadsheet.
I have information on worksheet 1, and information on worksheet 2.
More precisely, in worksheet 1, box B6 i have the amount 8333 inputted.
Then WS 1, C6 i have =16666-B6
Then WS 1, D6 i have = 24999-B6-C6
I do this because each month i am given a cumulative total, and by entering it in this way i can get a monthly total.
B6 = 8333 (jul)
C6 = 8333 (aug)
D6 = 8333 (sep)
Then E6 is a sum of all, to come up with 24999
(I realize its simple, however not all work so evenly.)
Ok, i can do that each month to come up w/ the monthly total.
But then, to reduce clutter i use the same format on worksheet 2.
In order for my next quarter on worksheet 2 to be right (oct, nov, dec) i need to subtract E6 (or all amounts in column E) from each month, otherwise, since they are cumulative i will be off by the sum of qtr 1.
My problem is, on worksheet 2, in column B (the column i made for the totals from WS 1), when i try to get the function in E6 from WS 1 into the B6 on WS 2, it wont work.
In B6 on WS 2, i type the equals sign (=) to start the function, then i click the WS 1 tab, then I click E6 and then hit enter. Rather than pull over the function and calculate, it just reads ='WS 1'!E6
and it wont calculate for me.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Im sure its crazy easy to fix, but im not crazy smart.
