Excel CPU Usage - Single Core/Multi Core (balanced/unbalanced?)

Hi guys/gals - sorry if this is in the wrong section. I put it here because I'm using an add-in and some VBA functions and run some pretty intense automated spreadsheets. I'm using DDE/RDP links software from Bloomberg (it essentially pulls in security quotes, etc.) and I'm wondering about CPU usage.

Does excel balance out across multiple cores? Use up one core first then move to the next? Use only one core (single thread)? Is there any way to make excel use multiple cores better? I notice a huge difference between a dual core and quad core machine - but it's bogging down even on the quad core.

Does Excel have the ability to split out across 8 cores (dual CPU box or even i7 with Hyperthreadding)?

    Thx for any feedback.

    Tom

Thats not a configurable function of Excel, your PC will (should) perform the tasks on CPUs as needed and suitability for the task, perhaps look for some tweak software.

Excel 2003 was limited to using a maximum of 1GB of ram, however Excel 2007 will consume as much as is needed (or so im led to believe).
Not all forums are the same - seek and you shall find

Any way to confirm that? Maybe I can bump up over 4GB RAM (64-bitOS) and solve some of my problems.

Thx for the help so far. Will post/report back if I hear anything solid.
