need help to change text to date format in 1 or more cells

    Hey There,

the texts are stored in a column. Whats the easiest function(s) to convert the following text format into date format. =date() requires year, month and date but i can't figure out how to extract them. (esp the month)

    "30-SEP-07 12:00:00 AM"

    "JUN 30 2010 12:00:00 AM"

reason is because i need to sort a column of dates but they are currently stored in text.

Re: (easy) text to date format

Enter 1 in an empty cell.

    Copy the cell

Select the range of data you want to convert.

Edit > Paste Special > Multiply > OK

Format the range as a date.
    Rule 1: Never merge cells
    Rule 2: See rule 1

Re: (easy) text to date format

Your post does not comply with Rule 1 of our Forum RULES. Your post title should accurately and concisely describe your problem, not your anticipated solution. Use terms appropriate to a Google search. Poor thread titles, like Please Help, Urgent, Need Help, Formula Problem, Code Problem, and Need Advice will be addressed according to the OP's experience in the forum: If you have less than 10 posts, expect (and respond to) a request to change your thread title. If you have 10 or more posts, expect your post to be locked, so you can start a new thread with an appropriate title.
To change a Title on your post, click EDIT then Go Advanced and change your title, if 2 days have passed ask a moderator to do it for you.

Don't use words like easy in the title, any way if it's easy why do you need help?
    Hope that helps.

Your title still has unnecessary wording. Actually read the rules & change it
