    Avoid #N/A error

I have a football league table and am using the below formula to update the scores. It's based on 2 worksheets; 1 called "fixtures and results" and another called "results".

    =IF(INDEX(Results!$D$2:$D$400,MATCH('Fixtures and Results'!$D4&'Fixtures and Results'!$G4,Results!$A$2:$A$400&Results!$B$2:$B$400,0))="","",INDEX(Results!$D$2:$D$400,MATCH('Fixtures and Results'!$D4&'Fixtures and Results'!$G4,Results!$A$2:$A$400&Results!$B$2:$B$400,0)))

I would like to modify the formula to leave the cells blank if it doesn't find the game in the "results" worksheet e.g if I have arsenal vs chelsea in the "fixtures and results" worksheet, the above formula will look for "arsenal vs chelsea" in the "results" worksheet. If it doesn't find it it returns "N/A". To avoid the "N/A" I have to list all the games for the season and I want to avoid that by simply having a formula that returns a blank if it doesn't find the game listed.

    Hi,

It would be easier to be certain with sight of the workbook, but as I see you have Excel 2007 something like the following perhaps...

Your post does not comply with Rule 1 of our Forum RULES. Your post title should accurately and concisely describe your problem, not your anticipated solution. Use terms appropriate to a Google search. Poor thread titles, like Please Help, Urgent, Need Help, Formula Problem, Code Problem, and Need Advice will be addressed according to the OP's experience in the forum: If you have less than 10 posts, expect (and respond to) a request to change your thread title. If you have 10 or more posts, expect your post to be locked, so you can start a new thread with an appropriate title.
To change a Title on your post, click EDIT then Go Advanced and change your title, if 2 days have passed ask a moderator to do it for you.
