Advice on using the LOOKUP function requested

Hi all, I was most impressed at how quickly people on this forum offer assistance and advice on this forum, many thanks! This has prompted me to ask for more!
I am busy building a spreadsheet where I would like to be able to use 3 values in three cells to determine the content of several other cells.

    For example:
item attrib 1, item attrib 2 and item attrib 3 results in looking up several values in a line from a table and populates those values into new cells.

The unique combination of the first 3 attribute settings will determine from which line in the table the values must be selected.

Any advice on where to find information on doing this will be hugely appreciated!

    Thanks in advance
    Chrispeter.

Post a sample - the most appropriate formula will be determined by the data type of the values being retrieved (ie numeric use SUMIFS in XL2007)

Good idea, its tricky to explain.
In the spreadsheet, I will be selecting the 3 variables: Size Color and Scale. The attribute sets will be the same for every one of the same 3 variables, hence I would like to try and automate the population of these fields from a lookup table [or something]

The spreadsheet is much bigger than this using many more colors.

    Thanks again

My bad, area is also an attribute.

If as implied by your image the values being retrieved (attribute 1 to n) are numeric then as mentioned beforehand I would suggest investigating SUMIFS function.

If you need specific assistance please post a sample Excel file - images are of limited use.

I apologize, I didn't realize that you were looking for an actual excel file. Herewith:

As you can see, DIST is derived from the Item values.

I will work with the SUMIFS function and report back.
