Using Conditional Formatting: If cells contain, then color to?

Could someone explain to me how i should do this, step by step using Excel 2007:

    Logic:
Users will enter '1' in column A and B, and a status color will display in column C:
    - If user entered '1' in both A and B, then C color should be set to 'Green'
    - If user entered '1' in either A or B, then C color should be set to 'Orange'
    - If user didn't enter '1' in either field, then C color should be set to 'red'

    See attached example

    Thanks guys,

Click conditional formatting > manage rules > new rule and select "use a formula to determine which cells to format" then add your rules eg

    =OR(A1=1,B1=1)

and set the condition to orange

Don't use fixed cell reference (e.g. = $A$1) or the formula will not copy sucessfully

    the attached may help

So how do you then apply that rule to more than one cell at once? For example, I want to set up a rule that says if a cell in colum D=0, then color the cooresponding cell in column E red.

To make things more complicated, I also need a rule the says If the number in B is less than the corresonding nuber in A then color C red. Then i want to apply that rule to the entire C column with cooresponding A and B values.
