IF function question.

I am making a home mortgage amortization schedule. I am trying to have an IF function return data for a false reading that varies.
Here are the functions so far:

=IF(C8=0,A192, this is where the data will vary. It states the actual number of payments made depending on the value of C8. if it is true it will display the payment number in cell A192. For a false reading i need it to display whatever number of payments there will be but this number changes depending on the value in C8.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

We'll need to know how the number changes in relation to C8.

(An attached sample spreadsheet would be a big help.)

Hi scrumplepuff and welcome to the forum.

It is easiest to solve these puzzles with a sample workbook. If you click on the Go Advanced below the message area and then click ont he Paper Clip Icon above the message area, a window will open and allow you to upload/attach a sample workbook we can view and help solve.

The If function has 3 parts. Criteria, True part and False part. In your example, we need to know what cell(s) you have the If function. Also how you are using it. It is only for the last payment to see if it brings the balance to zero? Give us a better chance to help with a sample.

ok i attached the file. The function is in cell H7 where it reads 180
