Draw shapes on a shape: Is it possible?

I googled this for awhile and I get how to draw lines, rectangles, etc. on a worksheet. I haven't seen anything however on how to draw ON a shape. The reason I want to do this is because I only want one shape on a sheet but not as simple as a rectangle, circle, or a line.

I was hoping I could draw a rectangle and then draw multiple rectangles, lines, etc. on that rectangle. The idea is to be able to draw something like a UPC code but only have one shape on a sheet per UPC. If the single UPC has to be multiple shapes, by the time I draw ten UPC's, I would have a ton of shapes.
