Draw shapes on a shape: Is it possible?

I googled this for awhile and I get how to draw lines, rectangles, etc. on a worksheet. I haven't seen anything however on how to draw ON a shape. The reason I want to do this is because I only want one shape on a sheet but not as simple as a rectangle, circle, or a line.

I was hoping I could draw a rectangle and then draw multiple rectangles, lines, etc. on that rectangle. The idea is to be able to draw something like a UPC code but only have one shape on a sheet per UPC. If the single UPC has to be multiple shapes, by the time I draw ten UPC's, I would have a ton of shapes.

    Thank you for your time.

    Welcome to the forum.

    Maybe Google barcode fonts.

you can not draw on shapes. You would draw many shapes and group them to have 1 selectable shape.

But as shg suggests if you want barcodes you would be better off with a font.

Thank you! I need to learn to keep it simple I guess. I googled 'barcode fonts 128' and found a few hits right away.

For anyone that is looking, the one I picked (EDIT: DOESN'T WORK. I'm searching for another).

It's just the font. To build the complete UPC you will need to follow the code 128 specification. Help with this for me came from here.

Thanks shg, Andy for the push in the right direction!

I was starting down the scary path of creating a XLL/DLL add in via Visual Studio to insert an image into a cell that had the UPC drawn already. Still might do that since it looked like fun!
