Extract a value if a specific word is in the next column

    Hi!

I have read through this forum trying to figure out how to make this formula on my own (trying several other suggestions) and after 2 hours, I decided I better just ask for help!

I am making a document for my Mom. She has column E as Owner name ex Joe, Albert, & Mike.

In Column D she has billable hours.

In H1 I want to set up a formula for Owner Joe. If E5:E200 says Joe then take the "billable hours" in column D and add them together so I can have a total billable hours at the end of each month.

I want to do the same thing in H2 for Albert.

    Can anyone help? Thank you!

Sounds like the best solution here would be to create a pivot table.
You can sum the hours by owner very easily in this way.
