    Averaging different scores by account

    Hi all

I just got a new job after graduating and realised they think I'm a lot more of an excel whizz than I actually am..

Basically I have tables a bit like this but much bigger:

    account1 Score 1 Score 2 Score 3 Score 4
    Respondent A 4 5 2 6
    Respondent B 5 3 2 1
    Respondent C 3 1 10 9
    account2
    Respondent A 2 3 3 3
    Respondent B 3 4 6 1
    account3
    Respondent A 4 5 2 6
    account4
    Respondent A 2 3 3 3
    Respondent B 5 3 2 1
    Respondent C 5 3 2 1

I want to work out the average of each score for each account. So for example the average of score 1 for account1 would be 4 + 5 + 3 / 3 = 4. Average of score4 for account 2 would be 3 + 1 / 2 = 2.. etc... The trouble is that every account has a different number of respondents. Currently what I do is insert a line underneath and simply work out the average for every single one (there were 60 accounts last time). Very time consuming...

If anyone has any suggestions for a formula or a macro I could use I would very much appreciate it!

    Thanks a lot
    Ian

Re: Help me keep my job!

Attached I created a Pivot table that averages the accounts instead of summing them. I changed the layout of your table slightly to allow this to happen smoothly.

    Hey Alan

Cheers for that! That's actually the same layout that we have the data in, you just saved us a lot of time!

    Thanks,
    Ian
