    Breakdown of total

I have a spreadsheet where new requests are recorded.

These requests contain a specific type of object (lets say a choice between 7 types of Jam) and the date the request was received.

On a seperate tab I have created a COUNTIF command to total requests for each month. So on the new tab I have a list of months a figure saying how many requests received in that month.

What I would like to try and do is break it down further to type total each month in the next columns.

    e.g. For Sep-11 Total requests = 6. 2 strawberry, 2 apricot, 2 raspberry.

I cant work out how to do this as the range of the query is over the whole spreadsheet and not row specific.

    Thanks

    C

    Re: Breakdown of total

    Jams Request Received MTH RR
    Strawberry 03-Jan-12 01/01/2012
    Strawberry 06-Jan-12 01/01/2012
    Raspberry 10-Jan-12 01/01/2012
    Raspberry 13-Jan-12 01/01/2012
    Raspberry 16-Jan-12 01/01/2012
    Raspberry 17-Jan-12 01/01/2012
    Raspberry 17-Jan-12 01/01/2012
    Raspberry 19-Jan-12 01/01/2012
    Strawberry 19-Jan-12 01/01/2012
    Strawberry 23-Jan-12 01/01/2012
    Strawberry 27-Jan-12 01/01/2012
    Raspberry 27-Jan-12 01/01/2012
    Strawberry 08-Feb-12 01/02/2012
    Strawberry 08-Feb-12 01/02/2012

MTH RR is a formula to return the first day of every month to be used in next tab's formula

    Totals tab looks like

Month Total Strawberry Total Raspberry Total Apricot Total Blackcurrant Total
    Jan-12 COUNTIF('Jobs '!C2:C110,A2)
    Feb-12 13
    Mar-12 23
    Apr-12 1
    May-12 0
    Jun-12 0
    Jul-12 0
    Aug-12 0
    Sep-12 0
    Oct-12 0
    Nov-12 0
    Dec-12 0

(= removed from formula so you can see how I achieved total. Tab "Jobs" is the first table).

    Thanks so much

    C
